Gazze Destek lunches a relief campaign to help 60000 households living in uninhabitable dwellings and more than 15000 families whose homes were damaged in the Gaza Strip's recent aggression - Palestine.
Winter.. The Season of Benevolence
The Gaza Strip lives one of the hardest years so far. On one hand, the deteriorated economic and social conditions due to the continuous Israeli blockade for more than 15 years is getting worse. On the other hand, the recent Israeli aggression on the strip a few months earlier was devastating. Consequently, suffering and poverty became an integral part of Gaza’s landscape. Moreover, the winter season in the Strip puts countless lives at risk, especially poor families who live in destroyed and damaged houses during the recent aggression.
Over 600,000 houses are unsuitable for human habitation. As the winter comes this year, countless families will be deprived of safety and warmth due to rainwater leakage. Over 2,000 families suffer as their homes were destroyed during the last aggression. 150,000 families live in partially damaged houses since last May and suffer from difficult economic, social, and living conditions.
Several International and human rights reports stated that the Gaza Strip became an unlivable area due to the continuous electricity cuts for more than 10 hours a day. In addition to an extreme shortage of more than 44% of medicines and medical supplies in hospitals. More than 56% of the residents live below the poverty line. 68.5% of households suffer from food insecurity. 48.6% is the general unemployment rate and 69% unemployment rate among youth. In addition to the almost complete closure of ports and crossings to prevent movement between citizens or trade. 97% of the water in the Gaza Strip is polluted.
As a part of Gazze Destek Association’s intervention plan to alleviate the Gaza Strip's suffering. GDD launched the “Warmth Campaign” to collect donations and provide aid to poor families to protect them from the bitter cold during the winter season. It is an annual campaign that includes sustainable projects to repair homes that are not suitable for housing and provide supplies to protect them from the cold during the winter season.
The donations will be allocated to a variety of several humanitarian assistance including:
- Food aid: food basket $30, a bread of charity $20, water $9, a productive dunam for farmers 1,000.

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Resurrection. And whoever alleviates the need of a needy person, Allah will alleviate his needs in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever shields [or hides the misdeeds of] a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah will aid His slave so long as he aids his brother.” Related by [Muslim] in these words.
